INTERSTATE CROSS COUNTRY

The 2026 School Sport Australia Cross Country Championship venue will be in Sydney from September 14 – September 17.

Please be aware, the School Sport Australia event will again be held separate to the Athletics Australia event.

WA TEAM SELECTION
In 2026, students will have ONE trial opportunity only.
Entry into the SSWA State Cross Country team is via the age specific trial event.

Please refer to the Selection Policy (tab at bottom of page) for selection details.

TRIAL 13-18s – Selection Race Thursday 29 May 2025
$12.00 per person

TRIAL 10-12s – Selection Race Saturday 7 June 2025
$10.00 per person

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Please be advised that if selected:

The total cost of the Championship is estimated at $800 (this does not include any flights or accommodation), less fund raising.

[Note: Home Education students will be required to pay a $120 fee in addition to all other costs]

TRAVEL MODEL
The School Sport WA preferred travel model is for students to travel and accommodate with their parent/guardian. 

Flights have been booked for team officials and their flight information will be provided at the parent information meeting.

Any variation to this model will be communicated to parents.

PLEASE NOTE CHANGES FOR 2026

10 – 12 YEARS (BORN 2016, 2015, 2014)
13 – 18 YEARS (BORN 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008)

The SECONDARY CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP will double as the SSWA State Team trial for 13-19 and 10-12 years age divisions.

Athletes will need to nominate via the Secondary Champion Schools Cross Country Page. 

ALL athletes trialing MUST also complete an Interstate Nomination Form (can be found under the “NOMINATE” heading).

Students will be selected according to their age as of December 31. School Sport Australia guidelines states that students compete in age divisions according to their YEAR OF BIRTH.

Age divisions are offered from 10 – 18+
