The School Sport Australia Interstate AFL 12s Championships are a Combined Championship with boys and girls 12s teams.
Open trials will be held for all teams, with regular selections occurring throughout trials and training.
Trial Cost
$20.00
[Note: Home Education students will be charged an additional
$10 trial fee]
Tour Cost
Please be advised that if selected:
The total cost of the Championship is estimated at $1000 (this does not include any flights or accommodation), less fund raising.
[Note: Home Education students will be required to pay a $120 fee in addition to all other costs]
Travel Model
The School Sport WA preferred travel model is for students to travel and accommodate with their parent/guardian. Flights have been booked for team officials and their flight information will be provided at the parent information meeting.
Any variation to this model will be communicated at the initial trial
2026 TRIAL DETAILS
‘Please Note: Once nominated, the Tour Leader will allocate each of the nominees to only one of the Phase 1 trials.
Please note that due to the large number of player nominations, individualised feedback will not be provided to any players/parents.
ROUND 1
Tuesday 31st March (Venue: TBA – Perth Metro)
Trial 1A: 8.30am – 10.30am
Trial 1B: 11.00am – 1.00pm
Trial 1C: 1.30pm – 3.30pm
Wednesday 1st April (Venue: TBA – Perth Metro)
Trial 1D: 8.30am – 10.30am
Trial 1E: 11.00am – 1.00pm
Trial 1F: 1.30pm – 3.30pm
Friday 10th April (Venue: TBA – Mandurah)
‘PLEASE NOTE” – Once player nomination has been received, the Tour Leader will allocate each player to only one of the Round 1 Trials.
Please notify the Tour Leader as soon as possible if the Round 1 date/time that has been allocated is an issue.
- After Round 1, the player squad will be reduced to approximately 100 players.
ROUND 2
Friday 17th April (Venue: TBA – Perth Metro)
- Players will be allocated only one timeslot of the Round 2 Trials.
- After Round 2, the player squad will be reduced to approximately 60 players.
ROUND 3
Monday 20th April (Venue: TBA – Perth Metro)
Trial 3A: 3.45pm – 5.45pm
Monday 27th April (Venue: TBA – Perth Metro)
Trial 3B: 3.45pm – 5.45pm
- Players will be allocated only one of the Round 3 Trial dates.
- After Round 3, the player squad will be reduced to approximately 30 players.
ROUND 4
Monday 4th May (Venue: TBA – Perth Metro)
Monday 11th May (Venue: TBA – Perth Metro)
Trial 4B: 3.45pm – 5.45pm
Players will be required to attend both trial dates in Round 4.
- After Round 4, the final team of 20 players will be selected to represent WA.
- A small number of “Train On Players” will also be selected.
PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT
Monday 18th May (Venue: Tuart Hill College – SSWA)
All selected final team players and at least one parent must attend the Parent Information Night.
Trial Venues

Selection is open to all West Australian students, whether or not they are members of an affiliated club. Students must meet the following criteria:
- Be a full time student
- Be 11* or 12 years as of the 31 December in the year of competition
All SSWA teams are selected on merit according to the published selection process for that team or sport.
SSWA is seeking nominations from students who would like to umpire (Field, Boundary or Goal) at the National Championship.
